ABOUT THE LITERARY NARRATIVE INDEX ASSOCIATION
The Literary Narrative Index Association™ (LNIA™) is a trade association founded to formalize classification standards for contemporary narrative works. LNIA establishes a unified rating language for mature content in literature and narrative entertainment, enabling consistent evaluation across publishers, retailers, and critical institutions.
For decades, adjacent industries—film, television, music, and interactive media—have operated under recognized ratings systems. Contemporary literature has not. The absence of a structured standard has left readers without orientation, retailers without consistency, and publishers without a shared benchmark. LNIA exists to close that gap.
Founded under Abbycat Group LLC, the LNIA functions as an independent standards body governing the development, issuance, and maintenance of narrative content ratings. All LNIA classifications are advisory and informational, providing a formal framework without restricting access or distribution.
Through certified criteria, LNIA brings literature into parity with other narrative industries, ensuring that contemporary works are discussed, evaluated, and circulated on defined terms.
